What is fair trade? The nuts and bolts:
1. A Fair Price
We work with either unemployed or underemployed artisans from Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East to set the prices for all of their products, covering labor, materials and a livelihood with dignity.
2. Cash Advances & Prompt Final Payments
Artisans receive up to 50 percent in cash advances when an order is placed and payment in full when an order is shipped. This way, artisans avoid spiraling into debt.
3. Long-term Relationships
We maintain long-term relationships and continuity of orders so that artisans can plan for the future.
4. Cultural & Environmental Sustainability
We carry handicrafts that reflect and reinforce rich cultural traditions, and which use sustainable and recycled resources such as bamboo, soda cans and newspaper.
