Artisan Group: St. Mary's Mahila Shikshan Kendra

A Catholic charitable organization, artisans of St. Mary’s create Indian embroidery. Approximately 400 women are employed full time and another 100 are employed part time. Nearly 40 percent of the women are the major wage earners for their families.

Though St. Mary's Mahila Shikshan Kendra artisan group is made up of Muslims, Hindus, Jains and Christians, the women feel a sense of sisterhood with one another.
