Celebrate Spring!
Not much can compete with the beauty of a Texas Springtime. Trees are starting to bloom and the sunny breeze feels great. It's time to enjoy the mild weather and spend time out in the yard and on the patio.
Here at Ten Thousand Villages we are busy setting up displays of beautiful new planters and other items to help you create your own space for outdoor living. Come check out our selection of hammocks and bamboo furniture. As always, they're not only beautiful and functional, but they are also handmade and fairly traded. What a perfect way to celebrate Spring!
Here are some ideas for your outdoor space-
Add a ceramic birdbath from Viet Nam to your yard for some instant color and beauty.
Hang a hammock chair from Guatemala on your porch or a tree and relax.
Light up the night with a handmade lantern from India.
This bamboo lounger from Viet Nam is comfortable, beautiful and easy to store.
Flowers not blooming yet? No problem! Add a colorful handpainted plant stick from India to your garden.
This sturdy ceramic planter from Viet Nam is perfect for patio gardening.

Did you know?
For the Hindu spring festival called Holi, people dress in green. Children then squirt each other with yellow or red colored liquid. They also blow colored powder on each other through bamboo pipes. Everyone gets soaked - and colorful - to celebrate spring. |

We'll be hosting 5 different benefit events aimed at helping local non-profits who are working to improve the lives of women and girls. Come in and shop during a benefit event and you'll be helping to support these wonderful organizations.
A percentage of the sales from 5 - 9pm each night will be donated to the following Austin organizations:

SXSW Extended Hours
10am-8pm March 10-15
We will stay open late during SXSW to make sure everyone has access to fair trade while they're enjoying the conference. Stop in and and shop and see how many musicians you can spot in the crowd!

Interested in how fair trade is working in India and Nepal?
Our volunteer coordinator, Polly, just got back from a 3 week trip to India and Nepal to visit some of the artisan groups we work with there. She's got lots of great stories and pictures she'd be happy to share.
